A campaign group called Climate Emergency UK have recently assessed every council in the UK to see if they have a climate action plan and then scored them across a range of possible measures. Unfortunately Tamworth Borough Council Scored 0% – along with about 25% of other local councils. However there’s plenty of good examples out there, for example nearby Staffordshire Moorlands scored 87%.

That’s the bad news, but the good news is that Tamworth did have a strategy written by consultants Instinctively Green back in 2011, but to be scored the plan had to be fairly recent (and up to date), i.e. produced between 2015 and 2021, the latter date being when the survey was started… hence the 0%, Here’s the existing plan that was written in 2011. Maybe some of this can be reused, updated and we can get Tamworth off the bottom rung and into the top 25% next time the survey is done.
